DISTRICT 109 BEGINNING BAND

            

             The beginning band consists of students who are in the first year of learning to perform on a musical instrument.  Students in this ensemble will learn the basic musical techniques including notation, rhythm, musicality, and team skills in preparation for the next level. 

             The mission of the elementary band program is to provide the students with the necessary tools they need to become a well rounded musician.  It is my hope that students will conclude their elementary band careers having developed a strong appreciation for music. 

             Research has shown that students involved in music receive higher grades and perform at a higher level on state standardized tests.  Students develop meaningful relationships with peers from other schools within the district and learn the important aspects of team work.  Together, the students work together to learn important musical concepts for instrumental performance.

            

 

             BAND IS A TEAM SPORT IN WHICH EVERY MEMBER PARTICIPATES.  NO ONE SITS ON THE BENCH IN BAND!!!!!!!!!
