About Mrs. Hudson |
|
About the Director Mrs. Christina Hudson began teaching at Wilkins Junior High in the Fall of 2008. She currently directs all string rehearsals and daily sectionals of the Wilkins Junior High Concert Orchestra. Additionally, she co-directs the Wilkins Junior High Symphonic Winds & Strings ensemble, which is a combination of the junior high Orchestra and Band that performs full symphonic works. Mrs. Hudson also assists as necessary with the District #109 Elementary Orchestra Program.
Mrs. Hudson received her Bachelors of Music Education Degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. While at Illinois Wesleyan, Mrs. Hudson studied music education, her primary instrument, the double bass, along with the piano and the cello, and performed with the Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestra and the University Jazz Lab Band. She also served as the manager for the Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestra for three years, completing all administrative tasks for the Orchestra and working with such distinguished artists as Dawn Upshaw, soprano, and Edgar Meyer, double bass. Mrs. Hudson was a member of the Music Educator’s National Conference, and was inducted into Pi Kappa Delta, an honor society for future educators. Additionally, she was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music fraternity for women, and served on the chapter’s Executive Board as Recording Secretary for two years. Mrs. Hudson received the Knight Scholarship, an award for outstanding musicianship and professionalism in the Illinois Wesleyan School of Music. Mrs. Hudson performed her senior double bass recital, and then graduated cum laude in May of 2008.
Mrs. Hudson performs regularly with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra and the Salt Creek Sinfonietta, and in various playing gigs in the suburban area. Additionally, she maintains a private studio of string and piano students in the northwest suburbs.
Mrs. Hudson currently resides in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, with her husband, Ben, and their three cats, Tarzan, Boots, and Jane. In addition to participating in music, Mrs. Hudson loves to read, scrapbook, mountain bike, hike, and be outdoors. |
