The Standards Aligned Classroom Initiative is an Illinois State Board of Education sponsored initiative in which school based learning teams participate in long-term professional development to foster literacy in assessment for learning. Teams follow the work of Dr. Richard Stiggins, founder of the Assessment Training Institute in Portland, Oregon - an educational service agency devoted to supporting teachers as they face the challenges of day-to-day classroom assessment.
